Sadly, the typo is the bane of every journalist’s existence. Much like accidentally farting in public or stepping in rogue dog’s business, try as you may, this stuff just occasionally happens.
Ideally, when they do occur, you just hope the blunder’s buried down the back somewhere for no reader to guffaw over.
However, the UK’s Surrey Comet arguably made two cardinal sins with its errant typo on last Friday’s edition. Not only was it on the front cover of the esteemed local organ, it wonderfully advertised a school’s guide inside as “Eudcating Surrey”!
But B&T’s certain that the journalist responsible did as all journalists do when things like this happen – blame the sub-editor. Or blame the paper’s owner for cutting the sub-editor to save money. But still, the delicious irony…
