News Corp Snares Former Flight Centre Comms Manager For Travel Industry Head Role

News Corp Australia has today announced the appointment of Dwayne Birtles as travel industry head.

Birtles, who starts his new role immediately, joins News Corp Australia from Flight Centre Travel Group where he was head of marketing communications.

With more than 13 years’ media and marketing experience, he will be responsible for driving News Corp Australia’s commercial strategy and marketing solutions for the travel category.

News Corp Australia managing director, national sales Lou Barrett said: “I’m delighted Dwayne is returning to the business with his wealth of travel knowledge and experience to be the primary media and marketing partner for our clients in this category.

“The travel category is a key pillar of our business and one that we continue to invest in. Birtles has worked across the client, agency and publisher side of media focused on delivering effective marketing outcomes that are enabled by powerful technology and strategic planning.

He spent more than three and half years with Flight Centre where he developed marketing communications strategies for the brand and was responsible for the execution of all consumer facing activities and associated media measurement.

Prior to that he was with News Corp Australia for close to four years where he developed advanced audience targeting solutions with media agencies and advertisers as national data commercial manager.
