News Corp Australia has announced the bright young things chosen to represent Australia at the Young Lions Competition that is part of the 63rd Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.

The announcement of this year’s Cannes Young Lions Winners was made at an event attended by creative and media industry heavyweights and News Corp Australia executives in Sydney.

The three winning teams who will each receive return flights to Nice, France, accommodation and festival registration with access to all the seminars, awards ceremonies, showcases and the beach gala party are:

Cyber: Kate Allan and Dane Van Veen – R/GA (NSW)

Media: Nelson Demartini and Roisin Rafferty – UM and Carat (QLD)

A group of 100 industry judges across Australia determined the finalists from the 28 shortlisted teams across the print, media and cyber categories who went head-to-head answering a 24-hour brief supplied by competition sponsors Archibald Williams, UM and Carat.

News Corp Australia’s chief commercial officer – network sales Sharb Farjami said: “We built and developed the Young Lions competition to foster up and coming talent in the agency community and give them the opportunity to compete on a world stage. We have seen a fantastic response this year, with more than 550 entrants

“Sincere congratulations to the very talented teams who will get the opportunity to represent Australia in Cannes this year.

“I also have to commend the runners up and all other shortlisted finalists who proved themselves to be worthy competitors. To be shortlisted is testament to your skills and I would encourage you to keep honing your creativity in finding unique solutions for your existing and future clients.

“Best of luck to the teams travelling to Cannes – I know you will do your country proud.”

The 63rd Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity will be held from June 18-25.

Runner-up teams in print, cyber and media categories will get the opportunity to represent Australia at the Young Spikes Asia Competition in Singapore in September.

Those teams are:

Print: Ray Ali and Nicole Hetherington – WiTH Collective (NSW)

Cyber: Will Winter-Irving and Pat Anderson – R/GA (NSW)

Media: Ben Doecke and Simon Keith – MEC (SA)
