Publishing giant News Corp Australia has announced the appointment of Ruth Allen as its new group director of human resources.
Allen will replace News Corp’s chief transformation officer, Derrick Crowley, who was decided to return home to the UK decided after three years in Australia. He will be relocate in June 2019.
Until that time, Crowley will work with Allen while continuing his responsibilities in leading the strategy to simplify News Corp’s business for growth.
Allen joins News Corp from Origin Energy, where she held the roles of general manager of people and culture, and GM of capability and culture.
Prior to almost nine years with Origin, Allen held senior roles with construction engineering company Thiess John Holland across the areas of capability, leadership and culture.
Her previous experience also includes five years at Telstra, where she was responsible for managing sales capability, cultural transformation and leadership in the customer sales and service division across inbound and outbound contact centres and Telstra shops.

Based at News Corp’s Surry Hills office, Allen will commence her new role next month.
