News Corp Australia’s executive general manager – NSW Simon Anderson today announced two senior sales appointments, Nancy Veart who has been appointed general manager sales NSW and Theo Zafiropoulos, assuming the role of deputy general manager sales NSW.
Veart succeeds Emma Fawcett who was promoted to the role of general manager, NewsXtend last year. Veart starts in her role on Monday May 2. Zafiropoulos steps into the newly created role of deputy general manager sales NSW, effective immediately.
Veart will be responsible for the advertising sales at The Daily Telegraph and The Sunday Telegraph.
Anderson said: “Nancy joins us at an exciting time. Combined The Daily Telegraph and The Sunday Telegraph are the strongest print brands in NSW; reaching two million people each week.
“Huge opportunities exist within our business to further drive this leadership position. It’s great to have someone of Nancy’s calibre join the team to drive the future growth of our masthead commercially. Her extensive knowledge of the media industry and vast experience will serve her well.”
Veart has over 15 years’ media leadership experience having previously worked at News Corp Australia, Fairfax Media and most recently APN News & Media’s Australian Regional Media where she held the role of national sales director.
In 2015 Veart was named PANPA sales manager of the year; an award that recognises excellence in advertising and marketing across Australia, New Zealand, the South Pacific and Southeast Asia.

Zafiropoulos has over 13 years’ experience across a variety of roles at News Corp Australia including national sales at former commuter title mX and The Daily Telegraph and The Sunday Telegraph. His knowledge of the NSW media landscape and existing client and agency relationships will be an asset in his newly created role.
