Crazy Biker Dude Jumps The Tour De France Peloton, And It’s Awesome!

The annual Tour de France is typically for only the hardiest of cycling fans (and, because it’s on so late in Australia).

However, TV viewers were treated to some extra action during Saturday night’s 10th stage when a mountain biker jumped the peloton.

Twenty-one-year-old Frenchman Valentin Anouilh successfully made the jump after six months of careful planning.

Anouilh told USA Today it had been a childhood dream of his to do the stunt after he saw Canadian Dave Watson do something similar – and crash out – back in 2003.

“I’ve jumped over roads before, but it’s when I saw the route of the Tour de France last October that I had the idea to jump the peloton,” Anouilh said. “It was a childhood dream of mine since seeing Dave Watson’s jump.”

Not that everyone was impressed by the stunt. When the video got posted to Facebook over the weekend, one user commented: “You should be imprisoned for putting other’s lives at risk.”

Check out the action below. But it’s probably not best tried at home.
