Monday TV Wrap: Viewers Lap Up Aussie Games Heroics

We Aussies love a winner and no better if the winner happens to be an Aussie.

And that’s playing out nicely for Seven’s Commonwealth Games coverage that pulled 1.45 million viewers at its peak last night.

The Games handed Seven an easy Monday night win with 41.2 per cent audience share. Nine took the silver medal but could only muster 21.8 per cent. Ten wasn’t far off with 16.3 per cent on the back of Bachelor in Paradise with 673,000. The ABC had 14.7 per cent and SBS pulled 5.9 per cent.

The Gold Coast action also impacted Nine’s standouts with Young Sheldon (767,000) and ACA (746,000) both markedly down on typical numbers. Seven’s 6pm news also beat rival Nine, 1.08 million to 1.01 million respectively.

The ABC’s night went thus: ABC News (677,000), Four Corners (627,000), Australian Story (533,000), Media Watch (521,000), 7:30 (449,000), Q&A (315,000) and Think Tank (194,000). The SBS’ best was Leonardo: The Man Who Saved Science which had 247,000 non-Games fans.
