Channel Seven came close to have some ratings egg on its face last night when the ABC came tantalising close to pinching second spot in last night’s audience share.
It appears viewers can’t get enough of last week’s Liberal leadership spill with the ABC’s Four Corners special into it last night delivering 779,000 viewers to the public broadcaster on top of surprisingly big numbers for its 7pm news bulletin that boasted 810,000.
Nine won the night on the back of a triumphant Block (1.088 million) which was the most watched show of the night. Nine had 28.8 per cent audience share, Seven was second with 23.5 per cent, the ABC a close third with 22.1 per cent, Ten pulled 19.8 per cent and SBS had to settle for 5.8 per cent.
The ABC’s other Monday night programs also beating their more highly-fancied free-to-air rivals – Media Watch (738,000), 7.30 (702,000), Australian Story (638,000), and the Pauline Hanson and Bob Katter-led Q&A (525,000).
Over at Nine, its 6pm news bulletin enjoyed 1.03 million, ACA had 840,000, Doctor Doctor pulled 639,000 and Hot Seat had 549,000.
Its 6pm news bulletin aside (1.7 million), Seven had some worrying moments with Dance Boss finale pulling a disappointing 349,000 and Life Sentence debuting with just 102,000.
Over at Ten, Have You Been Paying Attention? did well with 801,000, Survivor enjoyed 674,000 and The Project boasted 560,000. Meanwhile, Pointless (267,000) continues to struggle.
For SBS, its best was Empire Of The Tsars that claimed 223,000 eyeballs.
