Monday’s night coverage of the Olympic Games was once again the overall winner with 1,439,000 viewers, a decrease of over 500,000 from the peak of Sunday night’s coverage.

In fairness, though, Sunday night’s numbers were the highest of the Games since the opening ceremony.

Yesterday night saw the Opals beat Puerto Rico in the basketball, moving on to face the USA on Wednesday. All eyes will be on that match, as the USA women’s basketball team have won at the Olympics since 1992.

The night, evening, and late night all clinched a million or more, with the evening peaking at 1,078,00 and the late night at a flat 1,00,000. Sneaking in there as well was Seven News with 1,406,000, as per OzTAM”s metro data.

Monday had a more even spread than Sunday, with Nine News also scoring 1,070,000.

Afternoon Tokyo coverage had 763,000 viewers, late afternoon had 713,000, morning had 499,000 and the night feed had 498,000.

This left room in the top twenty for a number of other programs, including The Chase, which topped entertainment with 809,000 viewers.

Australian Survivor once again continued to perform consistently at 603,000 viewers, while Beauty And The Geek sank from Sunday to 519,000.

The rest of Nine’s night had A Current Affair at 786,000 viewers and Hot Seat at 496,000.

For 10, other than Survivor, only Have You Been Paying Attention? made it onto the top twenty most watched programs, scoring 477,000 viewers in total.

Finally for the ABC, ABC News had 707,000 viewers, 7.30 had 559,000 and Australian Story had 515,000.

The Seven Network once again netted half of the total daily share with 50.7 per cent, while the Nine Network has 17.9 per cent, and Network 10 was two points behind at 15.6 per cent.

The ABC TV Network had 11.9 per cent, while the SBS Network had 3.9 per cent.
