Get To Know The ‘Employer’ Winner From Women In Media Awards

It was a proud day for winners of the ‘Employer’ category at our 2016 Women in Media awards, with the crown going to REA Group Ltd. From superannuation to diversity, there’s more than a few reasons this organisation came out on top. We get up close and personal with REA Group.

REA Group is not your average media company. They are innovative and disruptive, and everything they do – from product innovation to global investment – is driven by their purpose of “empowering people by making property simple, efficient and stress free”.

REA Group has a team of over 1500 passionate and talented individuals across the globe and work in a highly collaborative and agile culture across sales, technology, marketing, design, and customer experience.

With representation in Australia, Asia, Europe, and the USA, their workforce represents many cultures, ethnic backgrounds and speaks various languages. Women make up 57 per cent of the REA Group team in Australia and are found in all parts of the business – from board of directors and executive leadership teams, to finance, marketing, IT, legal, culture, product and sales.

In March 2016 they introduced a ground-breaking parental leave policy. The offer allows six months’ paid parental leave for primary caregivers and three months of paid leave for secondary carers/partners.

And to ensure employees’ superannuation isn’t impacted as a result of taking parental leave, REA has committed to paying superannuation for the entire period of leave, paid and unpaid, for up to 12 months.

To encourage diversity, REA has integrated diversity into its marketing and recruitment campaigns and introduced a ‘+One Pledge’, which ensures at least one female is interviewed, with at least one female interviewer, for all roles.
