IPG Mediabrands’ Henry Tajer Quits In Mysterious Circumstances

IPG Mediabrands’ global CEO Henry Tajer has shocked the industry and announced he is quitting his US post, although no reasons have been given for his sudden departure.

A native Aussie, Tajer is the global chief of Mediabrands, the holding company for the media buying group IPG. He is reportedly leaving the business altogether and returning to Sydney.

B&T contacted IPG in Australia for comment on Tajer’s next move, however, it declined the invitation.

Tajer moved to the CEO role in 2015 from Australia and in his time manage to lure major clients including Coca-Cola, Johnson & Johnson and Hulu.

Mediabrands oversees an estimated $US35 billion in ad spending in the US.

Tajer was back in Australia in mid-March and spoke at Tourism Australia’s Destination Australia Conference. “The world has ADD, there’s no question… since 2000 we have lost a third of our attention span. Six seconds is the right measure for attention. You need to land it in three seconds,” he told the conference, his comments reported on B&T.

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Tajer’s responsibilities in the US are now being handled by Mediabrands’ chairman Philippe Krakowsky and no replacement has been named.
