The West Australian’s David Bignold To Take On New Role

The West Australian has announced that its sales director, David Bignold, will be swapping Perth for Sydney, having been appointed national commercial director to oversee the transition and integration of The Sunday Times’ assets into Seven West Media’s WA portfolio.

Bignold will take responsibility for all agency and major client relationships outside of WA and as The Sunday Times acquisition comes into effect, will oversee the transition of sales activities with News Corp, including developing a new sales model for The West Australian and The Sunday Times to be part of national advertising buys.

Bignold has held the sales director position at The West Australian for more than seven years. Prior to that, he was the group sales and marketing manager at Community Newspaper Group for 22 years, and also spent 16 years at News Corp.

Commenting on his appointment, Brignold said he is looking forward to establishing relationships “right across the eastern sea board” and helping develop The Sunday Times and The West Australian.

Brignold’s appointment comes after Seven West Media was given the nod of approval from the ACCC to acquire Perth Now and The Sunday Times from News Corp.

As part of the agreement, Seven West Media and News Corp will also build on a news content sharing agreement for The West Australian with News’ daily brands.
