Wednesday TV Wrap: Origin Blockbuster Pulls A Cool Two Million

Last night’s Origin decider proved a winner for NSW (26-20) and broadcaster Nine, with the thriller pulling two million viewers according to OzTAM metro numbers.

The game’s pre-match went as high as 1.105 million, while 651,000 diehard NSW fans hung around for the post-match.

Some 877,000 Sydneysiders tuned in, while 670,000 watched in Brisbane.

On the back of the footy, Nine easily won Wednesday with a commanding 48.3 per cent of the audience share (all channels). Seven did a mere 19.2 per cent, 10 had 13.9 per cent, the ABC did a neat twelve and SBS had 6.6 per cent.

Naturally, pretty much every other program took a bit of a clobbering against Origin.

10’s best was MasterChef with 555,000, followed by a resilient The Project (502,000) and 10 News First (394,000).

Seven’s 6pm news had 1.095 million, with the network’s other standouts being The Chase (653,000), Home And Away (612,000), Border Security (409,000) and The Force (331,000).

In the battle for breakfast, Sunrise (276,000) toasted Today (186,000).

The ABC’s evening ran thus: 7pm news (628,000), 7.30 (520,000), Anh’s Brush With Fame (492,000) and Shaun Micallef’s Mad As Hell (395,000).

Best for SBS was 24 Hours In Emergency that could only muster 151,000.
