Wednesday TV Wrap: MasterChef Rises Like The Perfect Sponge

10’s MasterChef was back on the boil last night, posting some of its best numbers of the season.

Gary, George and Matt posted 731,000 last night according to OzTAM metro numbers.

Meanwhile Seven’s The Super Switch (381,000) might need some more marketing heave-ho, while Nine’s Talkin’ About Your Generation (483,000) didn’t fare much better.

9Gem’s coverage of the Aussie-Pakistan World Cup cricket game – that pulled 380,000 – handed Nine a Wednesday night win with 31.7 per cent audience share.

Seven was second with 25.4 per cent, 10 posted an impressive 21.2 per cent, the ABC had 15.7 per cent and SBS pulled 6.1 per cent.

Oddly, one of the ABC’s best performers, Anh’s Brush With Fame, had a bit of an off night, posting 544,000.

In the battle for breakfast, Sunrise (274,000) had Today (215,000) on toast.

Other highlights for 10 included Five Bedrooms (499,000), The Project (473,000) and 10 News First (409,000).

Seven’s best was its 6pm news (1.103 million), followed by Home And Away (718,000), The Chase (685,000) and The Front Bar (424,000)

Over at Nine, its 6pm news did 965,000, ACA had 781,000 and Hot Seat pulled 570,000.

The ABC’s 7pm news (654,000), 7.30 (582,000) and The Weekly With Charlie Pickering (514,000) were Aunty’s other notables.

SBS’ best was once again 24 Hours In Emergency with 178,000.
