Wednesday TV Wrap: Charles & Camilla Give MasterChef Some Right Regal Ratings

It was undoubtedly one of the odder TV pairings of late; however, Prince Charles’ and Camilla’s appearance on MasterChef last night has proved a ratings triumph for Ten.

Last night’s episode had 920,000 monarchists and foodies tune-in to see the future King of Australia not actually eat any food.

The Royally-endorsed episode easily beat its rivals with House Rules (748,000), Young Sheldon (580,000) and Gruen (688,000) all down on previous weeks.

Still, the Royal seal of approval wasn’t enough to get Ten out of third place when it came to audience share.

Seven won the night with 29.4 per cent, Nine had 24 per cent, Ten 21.3 per cent, the ABC 17.4 per cent and SBS 7.8 per cent.

Seven’s 6pm news bulletin was again the night’s most-watched show with 1.02 million. While Seven’s Wimbledon coverage could only rally a peak of 216,0000.

Nine’s news had 943,000 and ACA pulled 823,000.

MasterChef aside, Ten’s other highlights were The Project (502,000) and Instinct (450,000).

The ABC’s evening went thus: Gruen (688,000), 7pm news (672,000), The Weekly With Charlie Pickering (575,000), Julia Zemiro’s Home Delivery (505,000), Corey White’s Roadmap To Paradise (247,000) and Adam Hills’ Last Leg (218,000).

SBS’ best was Robson Green’s Australian Adventure (246,000) while yesterday morning’s 6am finish of the England-Columbia World Cup game pulled 180,000.
