Twitter opens doors poaching Stocks from Google

Twitter has completed the final pieces of its management puzzle luring Karen Stocks from Google and Danny Keens from the Nine Network as it officially opens its doors today.

The social network has been quietly recruiting in Australia since announcing its intention to launch a local office earlier this year, but will now start to aggressively push its promoted products to advertisers.

Stocks will be the country manager after leaving Google, which she joined in 2007 and most recently moved to the role of MD of mobile and social solutions for APAC, having previously been in charge of YouTube here.

Google is understood to currently be recruiting for a replacement for Stocks in the role.

Keens will take the role of director of media partnerships creating links with TV, music, sports, government and journalism, with his last role as producer of Nine’s 60 Minutes show.

This role will see him engage with strategic partners to make more of the platform organically, whilst the sales team will look to push the promoted tweet offerings which monetize the site.
