TV Weatherman Steve Jacobs Quits Nine’s Today Show

Channel nine’s long-time Today weatherman, Steve Jacobs, has announced he is pulling up stumps after 12 years on the show to spend more time with his family.

Jacobs fought back tears making the announcement on-air this morning, but said he won’t be disappearing from TV screens altogether.

“From Monday to Friday for the past 12 years, I haven’t even been able to wake up once with my wife… haven’t been able to get the kids to day care,” he said.

“The good news is that our beautiful, esteemed leader, Mark Calvert, has come up with a great program to make my work more flexible so I can stay.

“So, I’m still going to be on the show doing our beautiful ‘Knock of Cash’ and ‘Little Heroes’. I’m going to be joining the weekend team and doing some weather there, so I’m still part of the family.”

Cheers for the laughs, Stevie.
