TV Production Firm Crocmedia Hires Nine’s Tim Cleary For New Venture

Crocmedia has announced the launch of Rainmaker, a dedicated TV production services business to be headed by former Head of Programming and Production at Channel Nine, Tim Cleary.

Cleary will draw on his 25 years in the industry to spearhead the creation of bespoke new shows for distribution both in Australia and overseas under the Rainmaker brand.

Cleary will also take responsibility for Crocmedia’s content division across all platforms in the role of chief content officer.

Rainmaker will provide production services to both broadcasters and brands alike – utilising purpose-built state-of-art TV studios in Melbourne’s Southbank.

Cleary, who oversaw major productions including The Footy Show, The Logie Awards, Millionaire Hot Seat, Carols by Candlelight and Channel Nine’s Olympic Games coverages during a 13-year career with the network, said he was excited about the new venture.

“I’m really looking forward to building Rainmaker from the ground up and exploring new formats across genres as diverse as sport to entertainment and lifestyle,” Cleary said.

Crocmedia CEO Craig Hutchison said he was thrilled to have Cleary on board to drive the company’s latest venture.

“Tim’s one of the best in the business so it’s a coup for us to secure his talents to lead this new business. We have high aspirations for what it will become and the partnerships that we will create with brands and broadcasters,” Hutchison said.

Cleary will join Crocmedia from January 2018.
