Tuesday TV Wrap: Survivor Finale Limps, As The Socceroos Soar

The final of Australian Survivor, that saw air steward Jericho Malabonga take the prize, managed a disappointing 720,000 last night, however, it was up against the Socceroos match which undoubtedly pinched viewers.

Survivor was down almost 300,000 on 2016’s finale, while the Socceroos’ nail-baiter against Syria (which they won 2-1) pulled 479,000 viewers for Nine’s GO! and a further 354,000 on Foxtel.

All these shenanigans didn’t manage to worry The Block (1.19 million viewers) which again handed Nine the night with 35.5 per cent audience share. Seven was second with 23.1 per cent, Ten had 20.6 per cent, the ABC pulled 14.2 and SBS had 6.7 per cent.

In other telly news, Seven’s First Dates had a disappointing debut with only 482,000 and 800 Words regulars were clearly watching the soccer, it only managed 580,000.

Seven’s 6pm news bulletin (925,000) managed to bear rival Nine (858,000).

The ABC’s night went thus: 7pm news (694,000), 7:30 (509,000), Catalyst (400,000), David Attenborough’s Micro Monsters (319,000) and World’s Busiest Cities (221,000),

SBS’s best was Secrets Of Our Cities with 282,000.
