Tuesday TV Wrap: Julie Bishop Gives Denton A Significant Rise

Former foreign minister Julie Bishop’s tête-à-tête with Andrew Denton proved a winner for Seven last night as the interview show soared to its best numbers ever.

Bishop’s revelation of the wanton misogyny during her time in Canberra pulled an impressive 634,000 viewers last night according to OzTAM metro numbers.

Denton’s success also appeared to have a halo effect for Seven’s other Tuesday evening show, Dogs Behaving (Very) Badly, that posted 521,000.

On the back of demented canines and Julie, Seven snuck home for a Tuesday night win, taking 29.5 per cent audience share (all channels). Nine had 27.7 per cent, 10 did 19.3 per cent, the ABC had a neat 15 and SBS did 8.4 per cent.

Other highlights for Seven included its 6pm news (1.079 million), Home And Away (635,000) and The Chase (624,000).

10’s Survivor had 739,000, The Project did 477,000 and 10 News First pulled 377,000.

Nine’s 6pm news was its best with 878,000, The Block did 851,000, ACA did 761,000, SeaChange was down with 533,000 and Hot Seat managed 469,000.

In the battle for breakfast, Sunrise (269,000) beat Today (204,000).

ABC’s evening ran this way: 7pm news (654,000), 7.30 (494,000), Foreign Correspondent (417,000) and Catalyst (377,000).

SBS’ best was London: 2000 Years Of History that did well with 296,000.
