Top Dogs Stumble As Radio Ratings Reveal Big Market Share Moves
It seems the ratings break has done more harm than good for some of Australia’s top radio hosts, with the latest survey revealing some big shocks.
Perhaps the biggest surprise of all was KIIS 1065’s Kyle & Jackie O. For the first time in four years, the show relinquished Sydney’s FM breakfast crown to its sister show on WSFM, Jonesy & Amanda.
Elsewhere in Sydney, 2Day FM brekkie show posted a paltry 3.3 per cent market share (down 1.0 per cent) and was beaten once again by Triple J’s Ben & Liam (down 0.3 per cent to 4.9 per cent).
Sydney’s drive slot also experienced a massive ratings tilt, with Nova’s Kate, Tim & Marty rocketing up to top spot with 12.2 per cent market share (up 2.5 per cent).
Meanwhile, 2GB’s Ben Ben Fordham – Sydney Live (down 1.1 per cent to 9.1 per cent) and KIIS 1065’s Will & Woody (down 1.3 per cent to 7.4 per cent) dropped out of the top three altogether.
As for Melbourne, GOLD104.3’s new brekkie host Christian O’Connell has had a less than ideal first full ratings survey, losing 1.3 per cent market share in the brekkie slot to finish with 7.4 per cent.
The biggest mover in Melbourne’s drive slot was smoothfm, with the show (hosted by Byron Webb) up 2.1 per cent in market share to 9.4 per cent.
And in Brisbane, Triple M’s brekkie and drive shows found some form and moved into the top three.
Of course, you can check out who was up and who was down across Australia’s mainland state capitals in more detail below:
