Thursday TV Wrap: MasterChef Wins By Default As Not Much Else On

Ten’s MasterChef took the honours as the most-watched entertainment show of the evening but was undoubtedly helped by a lack of effort by its competitors.

George, Matt and Gary managed 852,000 viewers last night, while Seven’s The Single Wives (357,000) would have network bosses counting the grey hairs this morning.

Over at Nine, few bothered with its bottom of the table NRL clash between the Eels and the Bulldogs. The game not even making the top 20 shows of the night. However, 329,000 did stay on for the post-match Footy Show.

Seven took the night’s honours with 28.5 per cent audience share, Nine had 26.2 per cent, Ten did well with 22 per cent, the ABC mustered up 13.9 per cent and SBS boasted 9.3 per cent.

Seven’s 6pm news bulletin was the most watched show of the evening, it had 981,000 to rival Nine’s 915,000. While 766,000 hung around for A Current Affair.

Home And Away (640,000) and The Chase (614,000) were Seven’s other shows of note.

MasterChef aside, MasterChef Masterclass (550,000) and The Project (518,000) were Ten’s best.

For the ABC, its 7pm news bulletin had 632,000 viewers, Grand Designs Australia had 491,000 and 7.30 notched-up 438,000.
