Thursday TV Wrap: The Bachie & Googlebox Give Ten Renewed Vigour

The Bachelor and the returning Gogglebox handed the Ten Network some of its strongest viewer numbers in a long time as the two shows claimed the top spots for entertainment last night.

It was good news for the struggling network and shows Ten can take it to rivals Nine and Seven. On the downside, it still only managed a credible third in last night’s audience share when you include all the multi channels.

Seven won a quiet night of TV with 28.9 per cent, Nine took silver with 25.4 per cent and Ten had a morale boosting 23.2 per cent share. The ABC snared 16.5 per cent and SBS had to settle for 6.1 per cent.

However, if only the free to air numbers were included, Ten (23.7 per cent) would’ve beat Nine (22.8 per cent) and Seven (22.1 per cent).

The Bachelor had 820,000 viewers, while Gogglebox continues to prove its value, snaring 806,000.

For the victorious Seven, its 6pm news bulletin was the most watched show of the evening with 980,000. Its next best was The Chase (585,00), which was soundly beaten by Ten’s offerings. Home And Away had 536,000 and The Front Bar had 327,000.

Nine’s evening ran thus: 6pm news (922,000), ACA (680,000), Hot Seat (449,000), The Footy Show (326,000) and the NRL match between the Rabbitohs and the Tigers pulling 325,000.

Over at the ABC, its 7pm news bulletin pulled 674,000, Grand Designs Australia had 507,000, 7.30 enjoyed 501,000 and Sammy J pulled in 293,000.

For SBS, a repeat of Tony Robinson Down Under was its drawcard, pulling 289,000.
