Thursday TV Wrap: Matty J And The Bachelor Finale Gives Ten Its Best Night For A Long Time

The Bachelor has been put to bed for another season. Laura – the favourite from the show’s get-go – has won Matty J’s affection and the other 21 contestants are left to lament their broken hearts and work out how they can turn their 15 minutes of fame into 30 minutes.

Last night’s finale was good news for Ten, pulling 1.12 million viewers when Matty J made his final decision and 980,000 for the rest of the finale.

However, Seven still hung on to win the night, managing 26.4 per cent of the audience share. Nine was second with 25 per cent and Ten was agonisingly close to a rare win, snaring 24.3 per cent. Ten was the top primary channel last night but multichannels pushed its rivals in front. The ABC had 16.7 per cent and SBS managed 7.6 per cent.

In a relatively quiet night of TV, Seven’s 6pm news bulletin had bragging rights with 995,000. Other standouts for the network were The Chase with 622,000 and Make You LOL with a rather unfunny 386,000.

Nine’s news managed 899,000, followed by A Current Affair with 765,000, RBT with 652,000 and the AFL Footy Show with 269,000 and the NRL version with 184,000.

The ABC’s night went thus: 7pm news (715,000), 7:30 (584,000), Short Cuts to Glory: Matt Okine vs Food (334,000) and Glitch (329,000).

The best for the SBS was Great British Railway Journeys with 323,000.
