The Bachelorette Still Scores 1.5 Mil Viewers Despite Daily Mail Ruining The Ending
An emotional finale which saw Sam Frost choose Sasha Mielczarek over Michael Turnbull won the night for Ten, and this was despite the Daily Mail allegedly posting photos of Frost and Mielczarek kissing mere hours before the finale.
While some social media users were unsurprisingly royally ticked off, OzTam’s preliminary ratings still saw 1.52 million tune in in a five-city metro for the final decision on Thursday night.
Network Ten as well as understandably pissed off at the spoiler from the Daily Mail, with News Corp reporting this morning the network took out an injunction against the publishing company to have the article and subsequent photos pulled from the internet. However, the Daily Mail has said it will challenge the injunction.
Network Ten said in a statement: “Network Ten is looking at its options in seeking relief, including costs and a permanent injunction. As the matter is back before the court on Monday, we will not be making any further comment.”
The hoard of people glued to the TV to see who Frost would pick (if they didn’t already know) was enough to pull Ten over the line for the evening, winning the highest share overall at 27.9 per cent.
Nine was second with 25.5 per cent, followed closely by Seven at 25.1 per cent.
Yesterday, social media intelligence company Meltwater, pulled the numbers for B&T to have a squiz at who the audience wanted to win; Sasha Mielczarek or Michael Turnbull.
Tunrbull may have had more chatter about him in the social media sphere, however due to much media coverage about his apparent fib at being a professional soccer player, only 17 per cent of those conversations were positive.
He also had 36 per cent convos with a very high negative sentiment.
On the flip side, Mielczarek had 24 per cent positive sentiment in conversations, 27 per cent negative, and 49 per cent neutral.
Frost and Mielczarek are making the media rounds this morning, stopping by 2DayFM brekkie duo Dan & Maz – who will soon be replaced by Rove McManus – to share some of the love.
