Target Ditches UM & Appoints OMD Melbourne As Media Buying Agency

Retailer Target has appointed OMD Melbourne as its new media buying partner taking the business from incumbent UM.

This morning’s news comes from a fantastic week for the Melbourne agency who snared Coles (also a former UM client) and retained Village Roadshow.

Both Coles and Target fall under the Wesfarmers brand and B&T has been told these two are the only ones OMD had pitched for. Wesfarmers brands also include Bunnings, Officeworks and Kmart.

From July 1, OMD will take full responsibility for all Target media buying.
“We are thrilled to join forces with the team at OMD to optimise our media planning as we take Target through its next dynamic phase,”said Target general manager of marketing, Kenton Elliot.

“OMD clearly displayed they understood the Target business and have the resources and consumer insights to take us through its next exciting chapter. We want to sincerely say thank you to our previous agency UM for their hard work and dedication to the brand over the past13 years.”

Margie Reid, OMD Melbourne managing director, said: “OMD are absolutely delighted at the opportunity to work with Target. From the moment we met there was a cultural and strategic fit with their team. We look forward to the journey ahead together.”
