Sunrise Can’t Catch A Break, Suffers Rise Of The Machines In Tech Failure

It might be a ‘new look’ Sunrise, but today it seemed to be anything but, after some serious tech issues saw the team blindly fumbling through presentations.

For the first two hours of the Breakfast Show, the snazzy new graphics that show all the news and latest info were completely gone, leaving the big screens bare.

The Sunrise hosts and crew kept things light-hearted, however, and joked about the blunders taking them back into the dark ages, even switching the colour off.

“This is Sunrise unplugged,” Kochie said. “Welcome to Sunrise in 1974.” “We’ve had a few breakdowns this morning, but we’re fine, we don’t need technology,” Armytage added.

But it’s not the first cock up this week for Seven’s brekky show, with earlier this week an appalled Kristin Davis, star of Sex and the City, was subjected to a cringe-worthy skit from the popular show, despite being in Australia to talk about her campaigning for refugees.

The hosts wigged up and forced her into an awkward sketch, followed by a series of questions about SATC and Davis’ co-stars, to both her and social media’s dismay.

As a result of the stunt, Armytage has now been dropped by Australia for UNHCR as host of a lunch with Davis where she is speaking about her work with refugees, per The Guardian.

The $200-a-head lunch, hosted today at Sydney’s Ivy, will now be hosted by UNHCR national director Naomi Steer instead.

Rubbing salt in the wound, Davis seems to have jumped ship and shown favour for Sunrise’s competitor, The Today Show.

As for this morning’s gaff, executive producer Michael Pell told News Corp, “When we turned on the graphics this morning, the computer said ‘NO’.”

“Our hardworking techs got it to say ‘YES’ soon enough. Thanks to our loyal viewers for their patience.”

Everything seemed to be back on track by 7:30am.
