Seven Beats Nine In Securing Logies’ Headline Acts Exclusively For Morning-After Show

The Logies are just days away, and it seems Seven has claimed an early win over rival Nine as it prepares to broadcast Sunrise from the awards for the first time in years.

Seven’s flagship breakfast show has secured the headline music acts for the Logie Awards – James Blunt and Andy Grammer – to perform exclusively following Aussie TV’s night of nights on Monday, according to News Corp.

Nine has traditionally broadcast the Logies, and will have its TODAY hosts Karl Stefanovic and Lisa Wilkinson covering the aftermath from inside The Crown in Melbourne.

Meanwhile, Seven’s Sunrise duo of Samantha Armytage and David Koch will broadcast from outside the venue, after the network was noticeably absent last year.

An insider told News Corp that Sunrise’s coup in scoring the Logies’ headline acts was “a big deal”.

TODAY normally have the Logies to themselves; they normally have all the acts and winners on their show, so this is big,” the insider said.

“Exclusivity with performances is a big deal for the brekkie shows, and they would both have definitely been working overtime to try and get the acts.

“Nine are said to be pretty furious that their team has allowed this to happen; it is a bit of an egg-on-your-face moment when you can’t secure the acts from the Logies when you air the Logies.”
