Social Media Erupts After Off-Air Wardrobe Spat Between Channel 9 Presenters

Twitter, Facebook and YouTube gone into meltdown following an awkward off-air moment between Channel 9 news presenters Amber Sherlock and Julie Snook.

The catty exchange took place during Nine’s afternoon bulletin on Wednesday, where Sherlock and Snook were appearing as part of the network’s Chat Room segment alongside psychologist Sandy Rea.

Lead footage shows Sherlock ordering Snook to put a jacket on after realising the three women were all wearing white, and an argument breaks out between the two while Rae can be seen cringing.

Snook then threatens to walk off before the screen goes black briefly, only for her to reappear with a black jacket on, and then the ladies are back on air pretending as if it never happened.

It is understood that the footage did the rounds at the Nine newsroom before being leaked to a trade publication.

Nine declined to comment on the matter when approached by B&T. However, The Daily Telegraph reported that the network has discovered the person responsible for leaking the footage and is deciding what action to take against them.

Earlier on, a TV insider told news.com.au that leaking the video is a sackable offence.

The video has caused quite a stir on social media, with many taking to the Twittersphere with the hashtag #JacketsOutForJulie.

In a statement posted on Nine’s lifestyle site 9Honey, Sherlock admitted she “probably overreacted”.

“Live TV can be a pretty stressful beast, at times,” she said.

“And as anyone knows, it’s never much fun rocking up to work or to a party in the same outfit as one of your colleagues or friends. I probably overreacted with the pressure of presenting a live news bulletin,” she said.

“Thank goodness we had psychologist Sandy Rea around afterwards!”

Snook also made light of the incident, telling 9Honey that she and Amber were actually good friends.

“What can I say? Amber and I just really love white,” she said.

“Amber and I are good friends and I really enjoy working with her. News is a fast-moving environment and sometimes these things happen.”
