Serena Wins Plaudits For Unretouched (& Racy) Harper’s Cover

Serena Williams looks set to win her eighth Wimbledon Grand Slam this week and she’s now winning plaudits of a different kind after her appearance on the latest cover of the US version of Harper’s Bazaar.

Not only does the 37-year-old flash some serious flesh, but all the images from the shoot are completely unretouched.

The mother-of-one appears in a range of gold-inspired outfits and the spread inside includes a personal essay that addresses the now infamous US Open final last year where Williams argued with the chair umpire and was labelled an ungracious loser to eventual winner, Naomi Osaka.

In the piece, Williams speaks about the hurt the incident caused, how she later apologised to Osaka and how she was also seeing a therapist.

“I could not have been happier for her,” Williams wrote of Osaka’s win.

“As for me, I felt defeated and disrespected by a sport that I love – one that I had dedicated my life to and that my family truly changed, not because we were welcomed, but because we wouldn’t stop winning.”

On her therapy sessions, Williams wrote: “It wasn’t very easy. I’ve had a lot of things happen to me at that particular tournament in general. It was just important to always try to better yourself in any way that you can.”
