SCA Extends ‘The Broad Side’ Industry-Wide

Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) will extend The Broad Side, an online and social media network specifically designed for women in media, industry-wide throughout Australia.

The Broad Side is for women in media seeking to be inspired and empowered, is a forum for sharing ideas and advice, a place to feel connected, plus encourages support and mentoring throughout the industry.

The Broad Side, at www.thebroadside.com.au and via social media, celebrates and discusses the challenges of life in media, and shares insights on topics such as gender equality, personal branding, working with talent and work life balance.

Currently featured on the site and sharing their wisdom are Commercial Radio Australia CEO Joan Warner,
Marie Claire editor Jackie Frank, writer Zoe Foster-Blake and 2Day FM content director Donna Puechmarin.

Radio host Maz Compton of Dan & Maz Drive Show on the Today Network said: “Working in media is the most bizarre experience. Being a female in a man’s world can be challenging. But look out for the rise of the media savvy, industry game changers that The Broad Side is shining a light on.

“The Broad Side is a hub for women who are talented, passionate and willing to share the love, their insights, horror stories and advice with the sisterhood in this mad media landscape. It’s about bloody time something this brilliant came along. And I am very proud of the woman who is the brains behind it!”

Amanda Lee, SCA employee and founder of The Broad Side said: “The Broad Side was created as a support network for women in media, to discuss the many challenges we experience in what is a quite demanding industry, and to be inspired by women who are leading the charge. It’s a resource to encourage women in media to be the best in their work life and truly believe everything is possible.”
