Rupert Pays Himself $40 Million In 2015-16 But Only After Pay Cut

CEO of 21st Century Fox, Rupert Murdoch, has taken home a salary of $US28 million ($A39.8 million) for 2014-15 documents have revealed.

However, this was a pay cut of 4.6 per cent on his $US29.2 million salary the year previous.

Murdoch’s base salary was $US7.1 million while the remainder was made up of stock bonuses, incentives and pension benefits.

However, this was only Murdoch’s salary from 21st Century Fox and not for his role as CEO at News, for which he is reportedly paid a salary of $US5.1 million.

This will be the final year that Murdoch remains in the role at 21st Century Fox with son James being groomed to take over. James is currently the co-chief operating officer and was paid $US15 million in the year to July it has been revealed.

However, despite the lavish salaries, both James and Rupert have taken pay cuts after Fox’s underlying fourth-quarter revenue fell nine per cent to $US6.21 billion due to poorer ticket sales at the box office.
