Radio Ratings: ABC Ties With Kyle & Jackie O, While Christian O’Connell Finally Tastes Success
The second-last radio ratings survey for 2018 has been released, and again there are a few surprises.
In Sydney, the ABC enjoyed some serious gains across every single timeslot, with its drive and evening shows increasing their market share by 2.7 per cent and 4.2 per cent respectively.
But perhaps the biggest shock was the performance of its breakfast program, with hosts Wendy Harmer and Robbie Buck (pictured above) tying for market share with KIIS FM’s Kyle & Jackie O with 10.7 per cent.
Oh, and WSFM’s Jonesey & Amanda bombed out of the Sydney brekkie top three with a 2.1 per cent market share skid to 7.2 per cent.
In Melbourne, it was business as usual for 3AW’s Ross and John, with the Macquarie program achieving the biggest growth of all breakfast programs.
After posting negative results in his first two full ratings surveys, GOLD 104.3’s Christian O’Connell finally had something to cheer about, with his show increasing its market share by 1.2 per cent to rank as the third most listened to in brekkie FM.
In Brisbane, SCA’s Stav, Abby & Matt surrendered top spot in breakfast to stablemate Triple M with a 2.2 per cent market share drop.
Nova’s Kate, Tim & Marty experienced the same fate, with a 2.0 per cent share fall helping Hit105’s Carrie & Tommy and Hughesy & Kate claim the number one ranking for drive.
In Adelaide, Triple M was the biggest mover in breakfast, with its market share slipping 2.0 per cent to sit behind FIVEaa, the ABC, Mix 102.3 and Nova.
As for drive, FIVEaa experienced a whopping 3.4 per cent skid down to third place behind Mix 102.3 and Nova.
And in Perth, Hit929’s double-barrell drive line-up of Carrie & Tommy and Hughesy & Kate has outdone Mix 94.5’s Lisa and Pete to claim second spot, but is still yet to threaten Nova’s Kate, Tim & Marty.
See below for a comprehensive roundup of the latest metro ratings by city:
