Pauline Hanson Storms Out Of Press Conference Following Steve Dickson’s Resignation

One Nation leader Pauline Hanson has exited a press conference in a rage after answering questions about Steve Dickson’s resignation.

One Nation’s QLD leader Steve Dickson resigned last night after he was caught on camera at a US strip club appearing to grope the dancers and making racist comments.

Footage aired by A Current Affair last night showed Dickson said: “I’ve done more Asian than I know what to do with”.

Hanson said she was “both shocked and disappointed at the vision [she] was forced to watch”, she told reporters this morning.

While Hanson said Al Jazeera “conveniently” gave the tapes to A Current Affair less than three weeks out from the federal election, she still could not “ignore or condone” the video.

However, the press conference turned heated when a reporter asked Hanson about Dickson’s scandal last month where he was caught on camera trying to get funds from the NRA.

Dickson and Hanson’s chief of staff James Ashby were exposed last month followed a three-year Al Jazeera investigation done by an undercover journalist pretending to be an NRA lobbyist.

When asked about the scandal this morning, Handon said: “Sorry. They were not talking to the NRA. That was to the Al Jazeera journalist. Sorry. You’re wrong.”

The reporter continued by telling Hanson she “couldn’t argue” Dickon had tried to secure funding from the NRA for her One Nation party, at which point Hanson stormed off.

Mark Latham, One Nation’s NSW leader addressed Dickson’s resignation this morning on Sunrise. 

He said: “He has no future in politics anymore and Pauline Hanson has made that crystal clear. There is not much more you can say about it, is there? It is pretty clear cut.”

Dickson has also released a statement over the video, saying his behavior was not a true reflection of him and taking “full responsibility” for his actions.

He said: “The footage shown does not reflect the person I am. It shows a person who was drunk and not in control of his actions and I take full responsibility for allowing that to happen.

“I am deeply remorseful for the hurt that I have caused her, my family and the people that support me.”
