Pandora Reveals Annual Top Thumb Hundred Mixtape

Pandora, the go-to music source for fans and artists, has released the Australia Top Thumb Hundred Mixtape, an eclectic soundtrack reflecting our listeners’ favourite discoveries in 2016 to celebrate another memorable year in music.

The Top Thumb Hundred Mixtape features the songs that received the most thumbs up from Pandora listeners during 2016.

So, who made the cut? The most popular artists with Australian listeners were Taylor Swift, Drake, Adele, Justin Bieber, Ed Sheeran, and Meghan Trainor, while six songs came from Pandora’s 2016 Artists to Watch predictions.

Other popular artist choices were The Chainsmokers, Major Lazer, Shawn Mendes, Rihanna and Twenty One Pilots.

“Household names will always be a part of our Top Thumb Hundred Mixtape, but emerging artists, particularly those we have shared with listeners through our ‘Artists to Watch’ lists, have taken the spotlight this year,” said Lars Murray, senior vice president, Music Makers Group at Pandora.

“This demonstrates how Pandora continues to be the destination for people to discover and enjoy the music they love.”

In the US, the most popular artists were Rihanna and Drake with others including Future, Fetty Wap, Justin Bieber, Adele, Beyoncé, Bryson Tiller, Meghan Trainor, The Chainsmokers, Twenty One Pilots and The Weeknd.

Artists to Watch in the US included Bryson Tiller, Ty Dolla $ign, Daya, Post Malone, Tory Lanez, Ruth B. and Alessia Cara.

Hip Hop was the most popular genre with 42 songs on the US list, followed by Pop (29), R&B (15), Alternative/Rock (6), Dance/EDM (6) and Country (2).
