Origin Proves Huge Winner For Blues, Nine, Melbourne AND The Game Itself

The Oztam viewings are in, last night’s State of Origin Round Two saw 2.616 million metro viewers see the Cockroaches (that’s the NSW team, not some bad 80s Australian band) beat the Maroons.

Sydney had the most eyeballs tuning in, with 1.096 million Sydneysiders watching the Blues kick butt. Brisbane came second (both in the game and off-field) with 812,000 viewers.

In good news for league down south, almost 500,000 Melbournites tuned in. Over in WA, 134,000 people in Perth tuned in on Gem.

The second State of Origin gave Nine an easy win with an audience share of 38.7 per cent.
