Oops! Youthful Chinese Vlogger Revealed As Middle-Aged Woman In Live-Stream Tech Glitch

A popular Chinese vlogger who goes by the name “Your Highness Qiao Biluo” has fallen victim to a technology fail that outed her as a middle-aged woman and not the young girl fans believed her to be.

The vlogger is believed to have used a filter on her face during her online appearances, which all came undone during a live-stream technical glitch.

Live-streaming platform Lychee News said the incident occurred late last week during a joint live-stream with another user on the Douyu platform.

China’s Global Times reported Qiao Biluo was “worshipped” as a “cute goddess” by many of her fans, who donated more 100,000 yuan ($AU21,252) to the vlogger so she would remove the filter and reveal her face.

She apparently said: “I can’t show my face until I receive gifts worth 100,000 yuan. After all, I’m a good-looking host.”

Her fans began sending donations during the session yet as the BBC reported, at some point during the live stream, the filter normally used by the vlogger malfunctioned and her real face was revealed to viewers.

It is believed the vlogger only noticed when people who had signed up to her VIP access room started exiting the live chat in droves.

Many of her followers, in particular, men, are reported to have stopped following her after witnessing her true identity.

Qiao Biluo has since suspended her account following the incident, according to Weibo users.

The incident has drummed up plenty of mixed opinions and discussion on social media.

Some users of the platform say she deserved to be outed because she conned people out of their money, while other questions the intelligence of the men who threw donations at her without verifying her identity.

Others have said people should not be judging her by her appearance and that her popularity came more from her “sweet” voice.

Users are also praising the second live-streamer, Qingzi, who did not react to Qiao Biluo’s face being revealed and carried on the chat as normal.
