It’s Official! Seven Crowned 2018 Winners, With The AFL GF The Year’s Most-Watched

OzTAM has officially crowned the Seven Network as 2018’s most watched broadcaster after unveiling its consolidated 28 top programs and free to air share ratings reports for 2018 (1st Jan-31st Dec).

Despite claiming victory way back in November, OzTAM has confirmed that Seven took home 30.7 per cent of the audience share last year. The number, of course, includes all the broadcasters’ catch-up and BVOD channels, too.

Nine was second with 27.2 per cent. 10 held on for third with 17.4 per cent, while the ABC wasn’t far behind with 16.9 per cent of 2018’s eyeballs. SBS had to settle for 7.8 per cent.

As expected, sport dominated 2018’s most watched programs, with 13 of the top 20 shows featuring a bouncing ball of some kind.

The AFL’s grand final presentation was the most-watched television event of the year. Some 2,616,000 metro viewers tuning-in to see the West Coast Eagles lift the trophy.

The most-watched non-sport event of 2018 was Harry and Meghan’s wedding that ranked eighth on the list and pulled in just shy of two million viewers for broadcaster Seven.

MAFS won the reality TV category. It’s finale pulling 1.9 million to The Block’s grand final (1.73 million) and MKR’s winner announcement (1.637 million).
