Nova pushes into TV and continues corporate rebrand

Nova Entertainment will next month launch Nova TV, a service that will allow listeners to play on demand music videos using Nova’s playlist and videos of on air personalities.

Nova TV is a result of a new partnership with global video technology company, Vadio. It will extend Nova’s on-air experience and give its advertisers another way to reach its radio listeners.

Emily Rayner, NOVA Entertainment group digital director, said: “We are continually looking for new and exciting ways to engage with our listeners. Vadio provides a proven means of assisting us to further the relationship with our audience by leveraging the compelling content we have already created.

“The Vadio music environment extends the reach and engagement of the on air experience and provides a fantastic opportunity for our video advertisers to connect with dynamic content in the social, mobile and online space. Vadio’s technology allows us to create a Nova TV experience for our audiences and clients across all platforms.”

Vadio specialises in using broadcast audio playlist data and converting it into mobile and social content.

Bryce Clemmer, co-founder and CEO Vadio, added: “We’re very excited to partner with NOVA Entertainment on this project. The media company has proven to be a thought leader in changing the way audiences connect with audio content and our service is sure to help keep them at the leading edge.”

Nova TV will launch in May and will be accessible via Novas online, mobile and social platforms.

The announcement comes as Nova Entertainment launches its new industry website. The website continues the company’s corporate rebrand which started with the recent name change from dmg Radio Australia to Nova Entertainment.

The site is designed to be an ongoing resource for clients and partners by bringing to life the company’s brands, talent, insights and entertainment channels with downloadable content, brand tool kits, biographies, images and in-depth ratings.

Case studies of creative and successful campaigns, information on consumer behaviour, listener habits and industry trends are also available on the new hub.

With the new site comes a fresh video series called ‘The Explorers’. The first The Explorers video features an interview with Robbie Williams.

Tony Thomas, NOVA Entertainment’s group marketing director, said: “The launch of novaentertainment.com.au showcases our transformation from a successful radio business into a broader entertainment company. The site will deliver useful information, insights and entertainment and is designed to reflect the ever-changing needs of the industry.”

The Nova Entertainment brand was introduced on February 26 this year. The change from dmg Radio Australia was designed to showcase the company’s entertainment properties beyond radio.

Nova Entertainment includes live events, a subscription TV offering with Foxtel’s smooth channel, branded radio station Coles Radio, music streaming service Rdio and more.
