News Corp Announces 2017 Cannes Young Lions Competition Winners

News Corp Australia has announced the winning teams to represent Australia at the Young Lions Competition that is part of the 64th Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.

The announcement of this year’s Cannes Young Lions Competition winners was made at an event attended by creative and media industry heavyweights and News Corp Australia executives in Sydney.

The four winning teams who will each receive return flights to Nice, France, accommodation and festival registration.

Media: Grace Espinoza and Charlotte Berry, UM, NSW 

Print: Jenna Morrissey and Rachel Harley, Grey, NSW 

Cyber: Alex Little and Karsten Jurkschat, Ogilvy, VIC

Young Marketer: Nicola Godsafe and Amanda Margariti, Universal Pictures and Diageo, NSW 

A group of over 50 industry judges across Australia determined the outcome from the 18 shortlisted teams across the print, media, young marketer and cyber categories that went head-to-head answering a 24-hour brief supplied by charity partner, AIME (Australian Indigenous Mentoring Experience).

News Corp Australia’s chief marketing officer Tony Phillips said: “Our Young Lions teams have been very impressive. It’s been great to see the next batch of talent coming through the ranks. Additionally it has been refreshing to see the professionalism and discipline displayed throughout the Young Lions Boot Camp.

“Congratulations to the four winning teams who have the opportunity to represent Australia in Cannes this year. I’d like to also commend the four runner-up teams and all other shortlisted finalists who proved themselves to be strong competitors.

“Good luck to our winning and runner up teams as they tackle their next round of challenges overseas.”

Runner-up teams in print, cyber and media categories will get the opportunity to represent Australia at the Young Spikes Asia Competition and the young marketer team will attend the Young Marketers Academy in Singapore in September.

The four runner up teams are:

Media: Kaia Webber and Millie Di Maio, Slingshot, NSW

Print: Sarah Muscat and Marina Vasilieva, Leo Burnett and VML, NSW

Cyber: Tristan Viney and Rosie Stone, Ogilvy and LOUD, NSW 

Young Marketer: Jesse Arundell and Michael Stocks, Commonwealth Bank of Australia and Google, NSW
