Monday TV Wrap: Masked Singer Back To Its Old Tricks; Love Island On The Rocks

10’s The Masked Singer has proven the TV surprise of 2019, so it should come as no surprise it killed it once again last night.

Last night’s night’s outing – starring Kate Ceberano as a lion – did an impressive 1.155 million for the reveal according to OzTAM metro numbers and was the most watched show of the night.

However, one show that has failed to find its feet is Nine’s Love Island, mustering a mere 342,000 last night and is a good 150,000 down on last week’s debut.

And it certainly made things interesting in the battle for audience share. Nine won the night (thanks to The Block’s 970,000) with 27.4 per cent share (all channels). Seven was second with 24.2 per cent, while 10 was oh-so-close at 24 per cent. The ABC had 17.1 per cent and SBS did 7.3 per cent.

10 also did extremely well with Have You Been Paying Attention? that clearly got a halo effect from The Masked Singer and delivered a rather impressive 946,000.

Other highlights for 10 included The Project (525,000), Just For Laughs (418,000) and 10 News First (335,000).

Seven’s best was its 6pm news (1.009 million), Home And Away (627,000), The Chase (579,00) and the struggling Bride And Prejudice (434,000).

The Block aside, Nine’s doers were its 6pm news (812,000), ACA (801,000) and Hot Seat (465,000).

In the battle for breakfast, Sunrise (269,000) toasted Today (187,000).

The ABC’s serious Monday ran thus: 7pm news (674,000), Australian Story (662,000), 7.30 (609,000), Four Corners (494,000), Media Watch (429,000) and Q&A (306,000).

SBS’ best was How The Victorians Made Britain with 219,000.
