Matthew Drummond Appointed Editor Of AFR Magazine

Matthew Drummond has been appointed editor of The Australian Financial Review Magazine, the nation’s premier business magazine publication.

Drummond brings to the magazine a wealth of editorial experience having previously been a senior journalist covering business and finance at the Financial Review as a reporter and commentator.

He has also been highly successful editor of AFR Weekend and GQ magazine. More recently, Drummond has been working in audience development with the Sydney Opera House.

“Matthew is a talented and innovative editor with a track record in building audiences,” Financial Review editor-in-chief Michael Stutchbury and editor Paul Bailey said.

“We look forward to him rejoining the Financial Review’s staff to build on the tremendous success of the magazine.”

In addition to editing The Australian Financial Review Magazine Drummond will work alongside the Financial Review’s Luxury correspondent Katarina Kroslakova, Life & Leisure editor Charis Perkins and Sophisticated Traveller editor Fiona Carruthers on an upgraded lifestyle and luxury section of afr.com.

Since its launch in 1995, The Australian Financial Review Magazine has maintained an unparalleled reputation for combining and style and substance in its coverage of business, politics, travel and leisure, food and wine, sport, health, design, fashion, watches and jewellery and the arts. It has been voted best newspaper insert magazine for four years running at the Australian Magazine awards. The magazine editor’s role was vacant due to the current editor Katrina Strickland moving to the role of Good Weekend editor.
