Man Accidentally Rides Bicycle Into Harbour During Live TV Report

Brexit has been likened to sleepwalking off a cliff, but it quite literally became riding a bike into a harbour courtesy of a TV report on Tuesday.

The BBC’s Sarah Smith was reporting from outside the Scottish parliament on the Scot’s view of Brexit when a rather disorientated chap on a bike careered head first into a nearby canal.

Smith didn’t hear the subsequent splash and carried on with her report, while the fate of the unfortunate cyclist is not known. Check out the mishap below:

However, the accident was noticed by BBC viewers who took to social media to suggest it was an apt metaphor for Brexit itself. Check out some of the choicest comments below:

“Brexit happens live on air.”

“The perfect metaphor for British politics.”

“Not quite a cliff edge, but a foot long drop.”

“We now quite literally go live to Brexit.”

“I feel his pain.”

“As someone who once cycled into a canal, I just want to let that guy know that while he may feel bad now, he should know that people will mercilessly take the piss out of him for the rest of his life.”
