Lumin Labs Nabs Two Not-For-Profits

Lumin, the online learning platform for the social change sector, has announced the winners of its Lumin Incubation Labs Grant.

Over the course of a six month incubation period, both Ethnic Communities Council of Victoria (ECCV), and The Man Cave will have the opportunity to hone their communications skills and execute a campaign of their choice.

Both organisations will receive training, consultation and support from Lumin and the agency
behind it, Think HQ, worth $10,000.

Lumin founder, Jen Sharpe said: “We were amazed at the high calibre of the applications received over the past month, and thank all of the not-for-profits who put forward a submission.

“Based on the fact that we couldn’t decide between the top two and just decided to run two
separate Labs, it was clearly a difficult choice!

“This is an important step in building the communications, marketing and fundraising skills of the not-for-profit sector, and we are confident that Lumin Labs will enable these organisations to embed them into their core business.”

ECCV is the peak Victorian advocacy voice for multicultural communities.

As the conduit between government, ECCV lobbies for access and equity and social justice on behalf of new and emerging as well as established communities, and advocates for improved services particularly for vulnerable and marginalised cohorts.

ECCV chairperson, Cr Kris Pavlidis said: “We are excited about our latest development, an
innovative Business Incubator for aged care providers in Victoria.

“This new initiative will require strong, effective marketing to ensure its success and sustainability in a changing market.

“Lumin has a solid reputation for building the outreach of community sector organisations
through marketing, social media and communications.”

Pavlidis added: “Through our collaboration with Lumin Labs, ECCV is confident that it can co-design a tailored marketing platform to support and promote the Business Incubator.”

The Man Cave works with schools, teachers, parents and community groups to deliver
workshops that explore healthy masculinity, positive mental health, respectful relationships and gender equality.

The Man Cave CEO, Hunter Johnson said: “We are very excited to be a recipient of this unique opportunity presented by Lumin Labs.

“Under their guidance, we will be uniquely placed to fast-track our organisation’s focus on supporting more young men to have healthy relationships, serve their community and reach their full potential.

“We recognise that digital communications, strategy and storytelling is fundamental to achieving these outcomes and this opportunity allows us to receive expert mentoring and support in these areas.”
