“I Look Forward To Appealing”: Rebel Wilson To Challenge Bauer’s Defamation Payout Downgrade

Rebel Wilson has broken her silence after Bauer Media was successful in getting its record $4.5 million defamation payout to the actress cut to just $600,000.

Wilson was originally awarded $4.5 million in September last year after a court ruled that a number of Bauer titles had falsely painted the Perfect Pitch star as a serial liar.

However, Bauer’s challenge in Melbourne’s Court of Appeal saw the general damages payout be reduced from $650,000 to $600,000, while the special damages amount of $3,917,472 was found to have been wrongly awarded.

Despite previously saying the defamation case wasn’t about money for her, Wilson slammed the judgement as unreasonable and promised to appeal the defamation payout downgrade.

Wilson followed up with another tweet, having promised any money she did receive would go to charities or acting schools.
