Lego Brings Out Stay-At-Home Dad Figurine

Lego has proven it’s still with the times and understands today’s culture with news the toy manufacturer has released a doozy of a new figurine of a stay-at-home dad.

The news follows Lego’s other figurine of a man in a wheelchair.

Unveiled at the Toy Fair in New York City – where Mattel also released its virtual reality toys – US publication Fortune had a chat with one of the Lego team members at the booth. Within the wide-ranging interview, the Lego spokesperson said the new figurines “mirror the world we live in today”.

“We need to stay in tune with the world around us,” the spokesperson told Fortune. “We aren’t responding to demand from anyone. We are trying to portray the world around us and listen to our consumer base.”

The man in a wheelchair with a guide dog and the stay-at-home dad with his wife in work-type clothes are two of the ways Lego is trying to stay relevant and scrap the gender stereotypes. And with reports saving the pieces could end up being more valuable than gold, and has previously been the world’s most valuable brand, now might be a good time to stock up on a couple of these figurines.
