Veteran Broadcaster Ron Casey Dead At 89

Famed Australian television and radio broadcaster Ron Casey has died at the age of 89.

According to media reports, Casey passed away at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney, although the cause of his death has not been revealed.

Casey enjoyed a 50-year long media career, beginning at Sydney radio station 2KY in 1948 before moving to television where he was a sports reporter for both Nine and Ten.

Always colourful, Casey was known for his strong opinions and fiery temper which earned him the nickname the ‘controversy king’.

In 1991, he famously punched singer and actor Normie Rowe live on Nine’s Midday TV show (hosted by Ray Martin).
