Kyle Ridicules Rove & Sam Saying It Was The Best Decision To Move To KIIS

Radio shock jock Kyle Sandilands has ripped into Rove & Sam again after the second radio survey results.

During yesterday’s KIIS1065 breakfast show with himself and Jackie Henderson – the Kyle & Jackie O Show – Sandilands said it’s just a joke Rove & Sam stagnated in audience share.

The results released by GfK Tuesday morning saw Kyle & Jackie O take the top spot in the Sydney FM market with 11.3, while Southern Cross Austereo’s new Sydney brekkie team of Rove & Sam on the Hit Network maintained a three point share.

“If you worked over at Austereo and you had those Rove McManus figures – that’s three surveys and not one, not one extra person has tuned in,” said Sandilands on the show.

“It’s just a joke.

“I gotta laugh, because those imbeciles over there when they told us ‘oh no your show’s probably at the end of its tether…’ and we came over here to KIIS, best decision ever made.”

Sandilands wondered why there’s anyone advertising on the station. “No one’s there listening, no one cares, why bother advertising?”

Still, head of content at the Hit Network, Gemma Fordham, is behind the Rove & Sam show. She acknowledged much of the focus is on the Sydney brekkie team, but stressed there are other markets to look at too.

“The thing with breakfast is, we’re in it for the long haul,” she told B&T.

“We’ve obviously got three years ahead with these guys and we’re very committed to the show and we know that our tracking shows we’re starting to see some good indicators.

“I’m really confident that as the year progresses it’s going to show.”

Mike Fitzpatrick, head of content at Triple M – another network in SCA – said the Adelaide team was now doing really well. But that had taken two years to get to.

So maybe we’ll wait for two years to see how Rove & Sam are going.
