Controversial TV star Kerri-Anne Kennerley has unleashed on Bill Shorten, claiming the ALP leader would put an “end to life as we know it” should he be elected as PM.

Co-host of Studio 10, KAK blasted Shorten this morning live on air, saying: “If Bill Shorten gets in, it’s the end of life as we know it. Honestly, without question.”

Kennerly also slammed Labor’s plan to change franking credits, after admitting she had to Google what franking credits were, which allow retirees to receive a tax refund on dividends.

She said: “Taking money retrospectively, as they will do, that franking credits, I had to google that, this is the way (for) self-funded retirees to not leach off the government pension. They look after themselves. They’ve got a plan. He’ll rip that off them.”

However, the point that peeved off the co-host the most was labor’s plans for a National Gender Centre.

“One thing I’m seriously outraged about, the millions and millions they’ll spend on a Gender Commission,” she said.

She continued: “These kids out there who are gender confused, and there’s a percentage of people out there gender confused, they will put up this Commission and we, like Tasmania, will have a child and it won’t be male or female, it will be gender-free. That’ll be national.”

Kennerley was referring to Tasmania’s new policy of making gender optional on birth certificates.

While labor hasn’t released much information on the National Gender Centre, including its cost, it says the initiative would provide support for transgender people.

In a segment later on Studio 10, Kennerly said she had been contacted by Labor’s media unit about her false claims.

She said: “The email says, ‘earlier this morning, Kerri-Anne — spelt incorrectly … fake news on your program, Labor spending ‘millions and millions’ to set up a Gender Commission.”

The email said the purpose of the centre was an “education and training role to provide awareness of transgender issues in the wider public.”

The TV star also took aim at Shorten’s economic policies, including his proposed changes to the way profits from shares are taxed.

She then went on to attack Shorten’s plan to remove tax breaks for property investors, saying: “He’ll put in negative gearing… no more investment into houses so your rent will go up.”
