James Packer Named Australia’s Richest Media Mogul

James Packer now has bragging rights as being the richest person in the media industry, according to the Australian Financial Review’s Rich List for 2017.

Packer finished in ninth place in the overall rankings with wealth of $4.75 billion, while Seven West Media chairman Kerry Stokes was the next best from the media industry in 14th spot with $2.90 billion.

The top five representing the media sector was rounded out by Catcha Group co-founder and CEO Patrick Grove (80th place with $801 million in wealth), WIN Corporation boss Bruce Gordon (107th with $629 million) and Macquarie Media’s largest shareholder, John Singleton (172nd with $450 million).

Cardboard box manufacturer and recycling tycoon Anthony Pratt topped the overall list with $12.60 billion.
